24th Annual Benefit Dinner
Our 24th annual benefit dinner took place on April 22, 2010 at Crystal Gardens in Southgate with about 270 people attending. Tammy, our hostess, went out of her way to see that the tables were beautifully set and ready for the crowd. Jack Smith sang (Molly was not feeling well) with a passion and gave an historic overview of Laban Ministries, followed by an interviewed by Paul Perugi. Jim and Nancy Smith were asked several questions about the upcoming evangelism trip to Ilebo during the first week of September. There was live beautiful accompaniment on the violin and guitar by Aaron Kittredge and Dan Cole, and Pastor Downs shared challenging thoughts about responding to the needs of Laban in the continent of Africa. The love offering totaled $19,135.65. What an amazing night! Thank you for all you were a part. Hi to our new Canadian friends who brought friends from the US as well. It was a pleasure to have you. Thank you to all who stood acknowledging your support of LMI for more than 10 years, some as many as 30 years! God bless you all. You have really made a difference for the Kingdom of God.
Next trip to Congo: June 2, 2010
HUGE PRAYER REQUEST:
Evangelism at Ileobo (ee lay bow)
Remember this second date: the week of September 5. On September 7, Mission Aviation Fellowship is scheduled to fly to Nkara from the medical mission station of Vanga to pick up our evangelistic team, including pastors and the music group plus Jim Smith, to go into the dark, despairing city of Ileobo and shed the glorious light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people steeped in witchcraft and idolatry. Pray, pray, pray for victory, defeat of Satan, and embracing of the truth by the townspeople. Thank you so much.
The expenses for this summer/fall trip to Congo are daunting. If you would like to help us win souls and contribute to the all around expenses of hiring Towers for Jesus to come and tweek the 300' tower plus repair our transmitter, plus provide food for graduation at Iwungu and Nkara of our Bible institute students and our women in the Women's Lit Center, you are just a click away. Paypal is here for your convenience and the Kingdom's advancement in Congo! Proverbs 19:17 says that he who has pity on the poor actually lends to the Lord, and you and I know that the Lord is no man's debtor. He will repay you!!! So thanks for praying and giving!! God bless you.
